I am often asked by my readers, " what is your view on office romance?" I think it's playing with fire. In today's world, it is simply WAY too easy to get screwed as a guy. Heck...you could even lose your job. For example, what if she calls for sexual harrassment? Now...you may be thinking, "But she seems like a cool person...I don't think she would do that..." But what if the relationship goes south in a few months? Have you seen how crazy and irrational some women get after a breakup? Speaking of breakups, what are you going to do if you breakup with her after a few dates? Keep in mind that as a co-worker, she will be saying her day after day, week after week. If there's ANY sort of weird "post-breakup vibe", it's going to stay there until one of you quits. Here's another potential scenario that has happened to one of my readers: What if your boss likes her too and discovers that you like her as well? Don't laugh...I've seen it happen. Or take the following example: What if a co-worker has a crush on the same girl and starts backstabbing you in front of the boss? As you can say, these kinds of situations can turn UGLY really fast. So...here are my two cents to office romance: KNOW WHAT YOU'RE GOING INTO. If possible, get HER to pick you up. Have a playful personality...and flirt in a VERY subtle way. ALWAYS EXAMINE HER REACTIONS. If she flirts back, then advance a little. Otherwise, NO. It's better to get her to come onto you. Or even better, consider dating women OUTSIDE work.
